Australia Quick Response

Powering Seamless Logistics with Advanced Solar

Industry: Logistic

System Size: 80kw Solar System

About Australia Quick Response

Australia Quick Response (AQR), a well-established Melbourne-based 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) provider operating since 1983, was feeling the pinch of hefty electricity bills. Their extensive 24/7 warehousing operations, coupled with sophisticated computer systems managing constant e-commerce order processing, demanded a significant and uninterrupted power supply.

Located in Sunshine, an area known for being particularly prone to power outages here in Melbourne, AQR faced serious operational risks from frequent grid disruptions. Compounding this, their existing solar system was simply underperforming.

As a valued client of AVTech Group's ICT services for over 15 years, AQR naturally turned to AVT Solar, a division of AVTech Group, to upgrade and expand their solar infrastructure for both crucial cost reduction and enhanced reliability.

The Challenge

This project presented several unique hurdles that required AVT Solar's expert touch:

  • Revitalising an Outdated System: Before any new capacity could be added, AQR's existing solar setup needed critical repairs to restore its efficiency and get it performing optimally again.

  • Battling Frequent Outages: Sunshine's notoriously unreliable grid demanded a truly robust and resilient solution to ensure AQR's vital logistics operations could maintain seamless continuity, come what may.

  • Multi-Building Implementation: Installing new systems across two separate buildings, all without disrupting the active, fast-paced warehouse operations, required meticulous planning and execution.

The Solution

AVT Solar delivered a comprehensive solution, first meticulously repairing AQR's existing solar system. Following this, they designed and installed two new solar systems totalling 80 kW across both of AQR's buildings.

The Result

The transformation has been outstanding:

  • Significant Cost Reduction: Electricity costs have been slashed by approximately 35%, resulting in an impressive 5-year payback period. Most of the generated power is consumed directly on-site, with any surplus efficiently exported to the grid, earning valuable feed-in tariffs, particularly beneficial on weekends.
  • Enhanced Reliability: The upgraded infrastructure has substantially minimised the risks associated with power outages, ensuring AQR's critical logistics remain operational.

Building on this resounding success, AQR has now commissioned AVT Solar to design and install two state-of-the-art battery systems for their separate buildings. AVT Solar is providing full support through feasibility studies and grant applications, further optimising AQR's energy savings and resilience for years to come.

A Strategic Partnership for Dynamic Logistics

The strategic repair and seamless expansion across two distinct buildings, combined with the intelligent management of grid exports, perfectly showcased AVT Solar's exceptional ability to craft and adapt tailored energy solutions that precisely meet the dynamic demands of AQR's bustling logistics operations.
